The prosthetic socket is the most crucial component of an arm or leg prosthesis. It connects with the body, guides the prosthesis, and must—especially in the case of leg prostheses—absorb and distribute significant forces onto the residual limb.

These features make a USC socket unique:

The USC socket reliably protects sensitive areas on the stump through its extremely soft, biomechanical comfort zones. As a result, the prosthesis can withstand much greater loads.

 

The USC socket is lightweight. Compared to a prosthetic socket made of HTV silicone, it offers a weight reduction of about two-thirds!

 

Thermoregulation, based on thousands of air chambers integrated inside the socket, reduces excessive sweating within the socket and preventing the stump from frezzing. This ensures good grip and a comfortable wearing experience for hours!

 

The USC socket features a uniquely strong adhesion to the skin. Since this adhesion is activated only at body temperature, putting on the prosthesis remains easy!

 

The surface with a lotus effect prevents bacteria from settling. The socket has antibacterial properties, eliminating unpleasant smell.

 

The Ultra Soft Comfort prosthetic socket is skin-friendly. Due to the innovative, natural-based material, the socket is also suitable for prosthetic users who are allergic to silicones or other materials. The socket material is tested and certified for in-vitro cytotoxicity according to DIN EN ISO 10993-5.

The patented USC prosthetic socket is custom-made using an additive manufacturing process (3D printing) based on a plaster model. It incorporates a bionically inspired honeycomb structure developed by us within the socket system. This honeycomb structure, combined with the material, design, and surface, provides the USC socket with a unique combination of:
